Product Description

Four tools in one. The Skylotec CRIC is a multifunctional rope clamp with an integrated pulley, built for cavers, rope-access technicians and rescue teams who want to carry less kit without giving up capability. In a single compact device it works as an ascender, a pulley, a rope clamp/pulley and a progress-capture hauling pulley.

Robust, practical and intuitive, the CRIC reduces the time, material and space needed for rope manoeuvres. As an ascender it grips the rope in accordance with EN 567 and EN 12841-B; as a simple pulley it lifts or transfers a load under EN 12278; and its integrated ball-bearing sheave can act as a redirect to make ascending or lifting easier without extra connectors.

In progress-capture hauling mode the rope runs freely one way and locks in the other, letting you build hauling systems and carry out rescue or self-rescue – and you can lower the load again using the dedicated cord connected to the internal cam. An intuitive release button lets you install the CRIC on the rope quickly, even with gloves on or in difficult conditions.

FEATURES

  • its versatility, compact size and ease of use reduce to a minimum the time, material and space needed in rope manoeuvres
  • allows ascending the rope in accordance with EN 567 / EN 12841-B standards (ascender mode)
  • can be used as a simple pulley for lifting or transferring a load in accordance with EN 12278 (pulley mode)
  • the integrated ball-bearing sheave can be used as a redirect to ease ascending a rope or lifting a person without extra connectors (rope clamp/pulley mode)
  • allows direct lifting of a load, the creation of hauling systems and rescue or self-rescue of a person (progress-capture hauling pulley mode)
  • in pulley mode the rope runs freely both ways; in hauling-pulley mode it runs one way and locks in the opposite direction
  • the lifted load can be lowered by acting on the dedicated cord connected to the internal cam
  • easy opening via an intuitive release button for swift installation on the rope, even with gloves on
  • steel cam with teeth that minimise rope wear while blocking effectively; two slots reduce dirt build-up for reliable locking on muddy or frozen ropes

Caution! This equipment is not a fall arrester (EN 353-2 / EN 12841-A) nor can it be used for self-belaying while climbing.
